Get to know the Kita Knirpsentreff

We offer age-homogeneous, loving, and professional educational care, upbringing, and support for children. We place great importance on a close educational and parenting partnership with parents. Our age-homogeneous pedagogical concept is based on developmental psychology and aligned with the Berlin Educational Program for Daycare Centers.

At our daycare center, the relationships among all participants are of central importance. The relational signals of caregivers shape the goals and values we develop together. We believe that relationships are the most important bridge to early education and development. That’s why we place great value on fostering positive relationships, which have a significant impact on children’s social behavior.

Our dedicated caregivers support and encourage children in developing positive self-regulation. This is essential for children to enjoy playing, learning, and interacting with others. We create an environment where they can feel proud of themselves, show empathy toward others, and learn to manage stress and resolve conflicts constructively.

Our experienced educators serve as role models and respond to the children’s needs with attentiveness, kindness, and empathy. They have in-depth knowledge of how children learn and observe children’s behavior in order to respond appropriately.

In addition to the Berlin Educational Program, we draw on practical experience and current scientific findings in early childhood development, pedagogy, and family research as the foundation of our work.

Our dedicated educators are the ambassadors of our pedagogical and operational concept. A key responsibility is to support and educate children in a way that complements the family, while also supporting parents.

In everyday life at the daycare, they accompany the children as they explore, investigate, create, and play. They use their analytical skills to assess each child’s development and guide them on their path to personal identity. When appropriate, they offer impulses for further discovery.

The educators create a trusting environment that conveys security and well-being, ensuring the children’s emotional and physical safety.

They interact with the children in a polite and respectful manner, while also maintaining a clear and assertive presence. Through consistency and reliability, they enable the children to build trusting relationships and to express their feelings and wishes at any time.

Every child is recognized and respected as an individual.

At our daycare center, we place great importance on transparency and close collaboration with parents. We want you to know exactly what your child experiences, learns, and discovers while with us. That’s why we create informative displays in each group area, where you can see current songs, poems, artworks, and even photos of your child (provided we have your consent). In addition, brief conversations with the educators during drop-off or pick-up are a natural part of our daily routine.

Beyond our regular exchanges, we also want to give you the opportunity to actively participate in daycare life. Therefore, we organize a parents’ evening at least once per semester, hosted by the group educators. During these meetings, parent representatives may also be elected. The council of parent representatives from all groups meets biannually with the educational management and administrative leadership. Of course, additional meetings can be scheduled outside of these set dates when needed.

As a daycare center, we see ourselves as partners for you and your child. We are a small organization and always have an open ear for your concerns, wishes, and suggestions. Our dedicated educators are always here for you and happy to support you—because we want you and your child to feel comfortable and well cared for with us.

At our daycare center, we place great importance on building a trusting partnership with parents. As key attachment figures for their children, parents play a vital role in our educational work. Transparency, acceptance, appreciation, and respect define our relationship with them.

We encourage parents to actively participate in everyday daycare life. In addition to electing parent representatives, they are welcome to join excursions and help plan celebrations and projects. They are always warmly invited to accompany and engage with the group’s daily routine.

We highly value openness, honesty, and a transparent approach to all situations—including challenging ones. This creates trust and fosters mutual understanding, allowing everyone involved to contribute constructively to the child’s development process.

Our staff maintains regular communication with parents. We offer informal morning check-ins, informative notice boards, and regular parent evenings. In doing so, we aim to ensure maximum transparency and keep parents consistently well-informed.

Our daycare center is primarily funded through public subsidies. A smaller portion comes from parental contributions, service fees, donations, and in-house resources.

Public funding is provided through the childcare voucher system (Kita-Gutschein). To secure a childcare place, a voucher must be applied for at the responsible youth welfare office. You can apply for your childcare voucher online through the Berlin Senate Department using the following link: www.berlin.de/sen/jugend/familie-und-kinder/kindertagesbetreuung

The parent’s share for lunch catering is currently a legally fixed amount of €23.

As parents, we understand that you have a busy schedule and professional commitments. That’s why we aim to relieve you as much as possible from additional tasks and obligations. We take care of providing toothpaste, toothbrushes, rinsing cups, tissues, diapers, sunscreen, and much more. We also provide breakfast and afternoon snacks for the children.

In addition, we cover the costs for visits to exhibitions, museums, theater performances, and more. We also finance birthday and Christmas gifts, craft folders, magicians, and children’s theater performances that take place at the daycare. Moreover, we place great importance on maintaining our high staff standards.

As parents, you are not required to take on any duties—neither educational nor support-related, such as doing laundry, deep cleaning, or running errands. Instead, we charge a monthly service fee, currently €70.00 (sibling discount: €60.00), which is collected along with the meal contribution.

At our daycare center, we aim to ease your workload so that you can fully focus on your professional and personal responsibilities.

At this point, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all supporters, donors, and friends who contribute to our daycare center—and hopefully will continue to do so in the future. We are especially grateful to those benefactors who, out of humility, prefer to remain unnamed.

We would be truly delighted to receive donations that go directly toward enhancing our educational work. Thank you so much for your support!

The building

Our daycare center offers space for up to 60 children aged one to six years. Our modern, three-story building includes five age-homogeneous group areas, each connected to a cloakroom and restroom area.

The group rooms on the ground floor have direct access to the outdoor area.

We are proud to provide our children with a multipurpose room that can also be used as a gym, complete with a separate changing area. In addition, the facility includes a kitchen, a staff room, and an administrative office. The interior furnishings and equipment in the group areas are supplied by a renowned German manufacturer known for its quality and certified standards.

Group rooms

Our facility offers spacious, light-filled group areas divided into two rooms, featuring flexible layouts that also provide children with quiet zones and spaces for retreat.

The rooms are age-appropriate in design and functionally equipped to support well-being, learning, and play—enabling us to implement our age-homogeneous concept.

Each group room is equipped with educationally valuable play materials that encourage children’s creative free play. In the garden, a wide variety of play and recreational equipment is available for the children to enjoy.

The environment

Kita Knirpsentreff offers not only high-quality care but also exciting excursions to nearby parks and playgrounds. Just around the corner is the impressive Brosepark, with its old trees—an ideal place for our children to play. Also close by is the Herthaplatz playground, which adds even more fun. And of course, a visit to the Schlosspark Niederschönhausen is not to be missed.

The daycare is ideally located, with everything just a short walk away. In addition, the local recreation area “Schönholzer Heide” is nearby. This area offers our older children the perfect opportunity to explore nature, enjoy outdoor adventures, and run around freely.
